FSGS and Low Hemoglobin (HGB)

FSGS and Low Hemoglobin (HGB)Hemoglobin is one specific protein in red blood cells that is responsible for transporting oxygen for cells all over the body. FSGS is one glomerular disorder that can affect the body’s ability to produce red blood cells as well as hemoglobin, resulting in low hemoglobin (HGB) and renal anemia easily.

Low hemoglobin level is usually caused by the decreased hemoglobin production or the increase of hemoglobin loss. Generally, several conditions caused by FSGS kidney disease can lead to low hemoglobin level.

1. Lack of erythropoietin (EPO): In addition to cleansing the blood, producing EPO is also one important kidney function. However, with the decline of kidney function, scarred kidneys are unable to produce enough EPO, resulting in lack of red blood cells and hemoglobin.

2. Damage to red blood cells: When kidneys fail to play their excretory function normally, extra waste products and toxins will build up the body. These substances will shorten the lifespan of red blood cells and cause the decline of hemoglobin.

3. Deficiency of hematopoietic material: When the body can’t absorb enough iron, folic acid or vitamin B12, renal anemia along with low hemoglobin level occurs easily.

According to the causes, some treatments should be adopted timely. Otherwise, a series of problems and symptoms will appear. Some methods can increase hemoglobin level directly, while some other treatments are able to manage it from the root.

Direct treatments including a kidney-friendly diet plan, EPO injection, iron supplement, vitamin B12 supplement and folic acid supplement that can stimulate the body to produce more hemoglobin. In severe cases, patients may even need to do blood transfusion.

Fundamental treatments including Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Immunotherapy and Clear Blood Pollution Therapy that can help remove immune complexes, regulate immune system and rebuild kidney structure. Once kidneys can come back to filter blood normally, HGB level will rise naturally.
