Nephrotic Syndrome with Stomach Ache and Vomiting

Nephrotic Syndrome with Stomach Ache and VomitingAlthough stomach ache and vomiting aren't as common as proteinuria and swelling for Nephrotic Syndrome, some patients do complain of these problems. Then, patients must be eager to ease their stomach ache and vomiting.

Cause

Stomach ache is usually related to fluid retention in abdomen or electrolyte disorder.

Edema or swelling appears when extra water leaks from blood vessels into the body tissues. For Nephrotic Syndrome patients, heavy protein leakage can also induce or worsen edema. Most often, edema is painless. However, in severe cases, fluid will collect in the lower back, arms, chest or tummy cavity. Then, ascites may occur to induce abdominal pain or stomach pain.

Additionally, when kidney filters are unable to do their work normally, electrolyte balance will be disturbed. This can affect gastrointestinal health and may cause stomach pain.

Vomiting often occurs along with the onset of stomach ache. In addition to the above causes, vomiting may be due to acid-base disorder or side effects of steroids or immunosuppressants.

Managements

After making clear the causes of stomach ache and vomiting, the next thing we should do is to take action to ease patients' discomforts.

If they are attributed to fluid retention, patients should limit their fluid and sodium intake and take diuretic. If they are caused by other problems, check with the doctor to determine what medications are helpful to manage their direct cause.

Although western medicines can help ease patients' stomach ache and vomiting effectively, they are unable to overcome them from the root. To get more therapeutic effects, patients should also take some systemic therapies such as Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Immunotherapy and Clear Blood Pollution Therapy.
