Why Do Nephrotic Syndrome Patients Have Loose Motion

Why Do Nephrotic Syndrome Patients Have Loose MotionLoose motion is also known as diarrhea that may happen with Nephrotic Syndrome, in both children and adults. How does Nephrotic Syndrome cause loose motion?

Loose motion occurs when excessive fluid passes through the large intestine that the body can absorb. Thereby, the condition can either cause excessive fluid production or keep fluid from absorbing, resulting in diarrhea easily.

For patients with Nephrotic Syndrome, they are usually at the risk of some other disorders, some of which just can cause loose motion.

The first reason is infection. On one hand, Nephrotic Syndrome may be due to immune disorder that is one common cause of infection. On the other hand, patients need to take a variety of medications, and some of them such as steroids and immunosuppressants can increase the risk of infection.

The second reason is electrolyte disorder. As kidneys are unable to do its filtration and adjustment function normally, the balance of many electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, fluid, phosphorus, calcium, etc may be disturbed easily. Electrolyte disorders can just induce loose motion easily.

The last reason is the buildup of waste products. If extra waste products can't be eliminated from the body timely, they will deposit in any part of the body including gastrointestinal tract easily. As these harmful substances stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, patients may suffer from diarrhea.

Now, we have found that loose motion isn't uncommon for patients with Nephrotic Syndrome. If uncontrolled effectively, frequent diarrhea can make patients feel fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc, easily.

In order to prevent the above complications and make Nephrotic Syndrome patients live easier, they should take some medications and treatments to manage their problem timely and effectively. If you haven't found effective treatments to manage your problem, you can ask help online.
