Elevated serum creatinine can be sign of kidney disease, however, it may also indicate other problem. If your high creatinine level is related to kidney disease, i am afraid, you are prior to be affected with flu.

Is elevated serum creatinine prior to flu?

As mentioned at the first passage, only the elevated serum creatinine associated with Kidney Disease prior to flu. Elevated serum creatinine may be caused by many accidental problems, such as strenuous exercise, pregnancy etc, which requires no treatment in most cases.

However, if you have history of Diabetes or High Blood Pressure, increased creatinine may indicate the kidney damage, because diabetes and hypertension are the leading cause for Kidney Disease.

According to the clinical statistics, more than 95% of kidney diseases are caused by immune system disorder. Diabetes and high blood pressure is good examples of immune disease.

In normal condition, the natural immune system helps prevent virus from outside attacking the human body. When virus appears, the immune system will release a series of antibodies as “warrior” to fight against and kill them.

However, in people with immune disorder, the immune system fails to release healthy antibodies. As a result, the deformed antibodies and virus form into a new material called “immune complex”.

The immune complex can flow with the blood circulation. And once it deposits in the kidney tissues, kidney disease happens gradually with the spread of inflammation.

Due to the underlying immune disorder, cold, flu or infection are more likely happens in patients with kidney disease. This is why we say people with high creatinine level caused by kidney disease are at higher risk to develop flu.

In addition, any mild flu may become a trigger which causes a new round of worse kidney damage or even a relapse of Kidney Disease.

Thereby, Immunotherapy is suggested by doctors for kidney disease patients, which is a biotherapy dealing with both immune disorder and kidney damage.
