Should I be alarmed if my BUN level is 32? Patient with kidney disease who has high BUN level may have this concern, while this depends on patient’s condition.
What is BUN?
BUN is the abbreviation of blood urea nitrogen, and it is a common standard to learn about patient’s kidney condition.
Protein mainly consists of amino acid, and amino acid will be decomposed in blood and more substances will be produced. While some substances will be used to produce urea in liver, and about half ingredient in urea consists of nitrogen.
What is the normal level of BUN?
Urea need to be filtered out by our kidney, and it changes in a stable range, and that is 9~20mg/dL. In fact, our kidney has strong metabolic ability, and BUN will not rise unless more than half kidney function is damaged.
Should I be alarmed if my BUN level is 32?
