How Serious Is FSGS with Protein in Urine

How Serious Is FSGS with Protein in UrineFSGS occurs when segmental scarring appears in glomeruli, and it is one common primary glomerular disease causing Nephrotic Syndrome. Protein in urine is just one typical symptom of FSGS kidney disease. How serious is it?

FSGS often appears in children and adolescent, and its initial symptom is commonly Nephrotic Syndrome. It is reported that about 2/3 of patients with FSGS have proteinuria and serious swelling. However, a part of patients don't take their protein in urine seriously, because it isn't painful or itchy.

In fact, this thought is wrong. Compared with hematuria, proteinuria is much more serious. This is because protein leakage can cause damage to kidney filtering system. If uncontrolled effectively, this kidney damage will become irreversible. Thereby, proteinuria is one important factor to affect FSGS patients' prognosis.

From this analysis, we can know it is indeed one serious condition with FSGS and protein in urine. If you happen to have this problem, you should take prompt treatment to manage your proteinuria and damaged kidney cells.

To alleviate protein leakage, various medications such as ACEI and prednisone are helpful, because they can inhibit protein from leaking out. However, only depending on these medicines may not work very well, and patients may find their FSGS relapses again and again. Then, patients must want to seek some systemic therapies which can not only manage their symptoms but also prevent the recurrence of FSGS. In view of this, patients can try Immunotherapy.

This therapy is mainly used to treat kidney disease caused by deposits of immune complexes. Until now, more and more FSGS patients prefer to use this therapy to rebuild their kidney filtering system. As long as kidneys filter blood normally, protein leakage will be managed from the root. Hopefully, you can be the next one to get benefits from this therapy.
