Chronic Kidney Disease can be divided into five stages according to patients’ glomerular filtration rate (GFR). When Patient’s GFR is blow 15ml/min, it means he will be recommended to have dialysis.
To patients in stage 1, their GFR is at the normal level. There is not many requirements to them. The only thing is that they should cooperate their doctors’ treatments positively. Kidney disease in this stage is able to be controlled if patients accept treatment in time.
To patients in stage 2, there will be slight damages in their kidneys, but there is not any obvious symptom in this stage. Besides, the kidney damages can also be controlled at this time if it is treated appropriately. As a result, patients in this stage should accept therapy in time, and then they should change their diet and life habits to improve their condition. For example, they should be careful on the intake of protein and sodium, and too much intake of them can aggravate the kidney damage. What’s more, patients should also stop their bad life habits, like smoking and drinking alcohol.
To patients in stage 3, they will have moderate damage in their kidney function, so they may need to have more strict restrictions in their diet. Vitamins and calory should be guaranteed at least, which are necessary to preserve their kidney function and overall health. Patients in this stage are also able to avoid dialysis if they have right treatments and lifestyle.
To patients in stage 4, they are in serous condition. In the treatment, they should have regular examination to make sure their kidney condition. Even though it may be impossible to stop the kidney disease’s progression, right treatment can well control patients’ complications and effectively prolong patients’ lifetime, which can reduce the risk of dialysis effectively.
