Berger's Disease Symptoms in Children
Berger’s Disease is also called IgA Nephropathy, which may occur in each age group. Also, it affects children. Over years, IgA Nephropathy causes the kidneys to leak blood and sometimes protein in urine, as well as other symptoms. If your child happen to suffer from Berger’s Disease, he or she may suffer from the following possible symptoms.
Blood in urine, also known as hematuria refers to the presence of blood in the urine. This can either be in small amounts (microhematuria) or large amounts (gross hematuria or macrohematuria). Usually, some triggers, such as fever, infection, inflammation or flu etc, related to immune disorder will promote this symptoms.
Protein in urine, also called proteinuria, means the protein leakage in the urine. The amount of excess protein is measured during a urinalysis and is considered high if the protein level is more than 150 mg a day. The kidneys usually filters out the wastes and keep the proteins, but IgA Nephropathy damages the kidney and make proteins leaking into urine. Usually, proteinuria comes along with the hematuria.
Flank Pain
When a child is suffering from IgA Nephropathy, flank pain is also very common. The pain involves with a mild backache or even a severe shooting pain. Compared with protein in urine and blood in urine, flank pain is less commonly to see in children.
