Causes of hair loss in IgA Nephropathy
There are a couple of reasons why hair loss in those with IgA kidney disease: malnutrition and side effects of certain medicines.
- Malnutrition. 1) Hair are made up of protein. For some patients who are suffering from loss of appetite, they may get inadequate of dietary protein in the diet. 2) Deficiency of vitamins due to dietary limitations and/or losses of vitamins during Dialysis. 3) Zinc deficiency is related to loss of hair. A low zinc diet may not meet a person's daily needs. 4) Other nutrients related to this problem include deficiencies in calcium, iron, and B vitamins.
- Side effects of certain medicines. You can ask your kidney doctor to have tests done to confirm if medicines you have been prescribed are associated with your symptom.
Causes of high blood pressure in IgA Nephropathy
Elevated blood pressure is very common in Berger's disease, present in 25% of patients when first diagnosed and developing over time in a further 25%. The kidneys have function to regulate blood pressure level via release of a hormone called renin. When the kidneys sense that the glomeruli are not getting good, adequate blood flow, they cause release of more renin, and blood pressure is eventually raised all over the body.
