Blood Cleansers or Purifiers for Kidney Failure
Kidney Failure is the end stage of kidney failure in which kidneys are only functioning at 15% or less. Since most kidney failure patients are unable to live with their own kidneys, blood cleansers or purifiers are needed.
Kidneys and blood
As we know, one basic kidney function is to filter blood, eliminating extra fluid and waste products. Our kidneys are great organs that have great compensatory ability, so kidneys can still do their work effectively as long as more than 50% of inherent kidney cells are still working very well. However, if only 15% of kidney function is preserved, patients need to live with some auxiliary therapies.
Blood cleansers or purifiers for kidney patients
Until now, several therapies have been created to prolong Renal Failure patients’ life. Here, we firstly introduce some of these therapies. (If you want to know which one is best for you, you can email your medical case to kidneyservice@hotmail.com or kidneyservice@hotmail.com.)
1. Dialysis: This is the most conventional blood purifier that has been used in clinic for long time. It can replace diseased kidneys to filter blood but fails to eliminate most moderate and large molecular substances. Hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) are two types of dialysis.
2. Plasma exchange: This blood cleanser uses healthy plasma substitute to replace kidney fialure patients’ plasma. On one hand, waste products and toxins in the blood can be taken away from the body, and one the other hand, some essential nutrition can be added into the blood.
3. CRRT: It refers to continuous renal replacement therapy. Compared with dialysis, it can purify the blood more thoroughly, reduce the side effects of blood cleansers and maintain the stable haemodynamics.
4. Clear Blood Pollution Therapy: The theory of this therapy is to cleanse the polluted blood before rebuilding kidney structure. If patients still have certain kidney function, their kidney condition can be improved largely.
