What causes Nephrotic SyndromeNephrotic Syndrome is a nonspecific kidney disorder is the result of glomerular damage. Proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia and edema are characterized signs of Nephrotic Syndrome. Nephrotic Syndrome can be caused by many glomerular diseases, including:

Minimal change disease (MCD)

It often occurs to children as the cause of Nephrotic Syndrome. The kidney lesion only can be observed by electron microscopes. atients always have pronounced proteinuria.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)

It is the most common cause of Nephrotic Syndrome in adults. Its characterized sign is tissue scarring in the glomeruli. Only the glomeruli with scars are damaged. The other glomeruli is intact, so only parts of the kidney is damaged.

Membranous glomerulonephritis (IMN)

The inflammation of the glomerular membrane causes increased leaking in the kidney. It is not clear why this condition develops in most people, although an auto-immune mechanism is suspected.

Diabetic nephropathy

It’s a complication of diabetic. Excess blood sugar accumulates in the glomeruli causing them to become inflamed and unable to conduct their normal function. This leads to the leakage of proteins into the urine.

Systemic lupus erythematosus

This disease can cause damage to many organs including kidney. The deposit of immunocomplexes can cause damage to glomeruli, causing Nephrotic Syndrome.

Amyloidosis

Amyloid proteins accumulate in glomeruli and affect glomerular filter function.

Vasculitis

The inflammation of the blood vessels at glomeruli impedes the normal blood flow and damages the kidney. This can cause Nephrotic Syndrome

The above are common causes of Nephrotic Syndrome Some are primary disease while others are secondary disease. Kidney is part of our body.
