Five stage of chronic kidney failure

In clinic, Chronic Kidney Failure is divided into five stages, according to the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) levels.

Stage 1: Normal or mild damage of kidney function, GFR>90 ml/min.

Stage 2: Mild kidney function damage, 60ml/min≦GFR≦89 ml/min.

Stage 3: Moderate kidney function damage, 30 ml/min≦GFR≦59 ml/min.

Stage 4: Severe kidney function damage, 15 ml/min≦GFR≦29 ml/min.

Stage 5: Kidney Failure or End Stage Renal Disease, GFR<15 ml/min.

Symptoms of kidney failure

Symptoms may be different and have some overlaps in the five stages of chronic kidney failure. Patients may experience symptoms like:

-Proteinuria (protein in urine)

-Hematuria (blood in urine)
