IgA Nephropathy,IgA Nephropathy CausesIgA Nephropathy is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when IgA settles in kidneys. If we want to know causes of IgA Nephropathy, we need to know what IgA is and how it affects kidney.

IgA is an antibody that plays a critical role in mucosal immunity. Abnormality of the immune system results in IgA depositing in glomerular mesangial area. These deposits cause inflammation of glomeruli and proliferation of mesangial matrix cells, and eventual scarring of the glomeruli. Thus, blood flow is affected in glomeruli and when blood can’t go through glomeruli, the glomeruli are non-functional.

Kidney is located at people’s back, two bean-shaped organs. Glomeruli are kidney filters that discharge extra fluid, waste products and toxins from blood to stop these substances from building up in bloodstream. They keep moderate amount of minerals and electrolytes in body, for example sodium, calcium and potassium. Kidney produces hormones to keep the balance of blood pressure, bone maintenance and number of red blood cells.

Thus, once kidney, especiallyglomeruli, suffers damage, the related balance will be broken gradually. High blood pressure, swelling and renal anemia are symptoms of IgAN. Because the filter of kidney is damaged, filter function can’t work well. Blood and protein leak in urine. Patients present with the primary symptom of IgAN: recurrent hematuria, sometime proteinuria.

With deposits building up in glomerulus, the disease usually progresses slowly. Early stage patients have no symptoms while they may find their diseases in 10 to 20 years, with symptoms occurrence.

The exact cause of IgAN is still unknown, but these conditions and factors are always associated with IgA Nephropathy:

Genes: IgA Nephropathy sometimes runs in families.

Infections: IgA Nephropathy usually occurs in concomitance with mucosal infections of upper respiratory tract or other infections.

Good news is though we don’t know the cause of IgAN, we can slow the progress of IgA Nephropathy with appropriate treatment.

You can take a look at this patient's report. His creatinine was 1028 and urea level was 39.7 on 2018-12-11; creatinine level was reduced to 331 and urea was 16.1 on 2019-1-5. After about 25 days' treatment in our hospital, his creatinine level was reduced by 697, and urea was reduced by 23.6. Hope his condition gets better and better.

Our Treatment effect

Proteinuria is a common symptom of kidney disease

Mouse over the picture, it can be magnified.

It can make your urine foamy. Although it does not make you feel uncomfortable, it can impair your renal function and make your kidney disease worse. Conventional treatment such as steroids and immunosuppressants can hardly make it negative. In our hospital, systemic Chinese medicine treatment can help you turn it negative. Look at this picture, bubbles in urine become less and less with our treatment going on.
