What Does Creatinine Level 2.3 And Urea Nitrogen Level 50 Mean

What Does Creatinine Level 2.3 And Urea Nitrogen Level 50 Mean For patient with kidney disease, creatinine and urea nitrogen are two common standards to assess patient’s kidney condition. And different levels of them may indicate different conditions in renal patient.

While if a patient has creatinine level 2.3 and urea nitrogen level 50, what will that mean?

Why patient can have high creatinine and urea nitrogen?

The normal creatinine level in man is about 0.6~1.3mg/dL, and it is 0.5~1.1mg/dL in woman, so if patient has creatinine level of 2.3, that will be obvious higher than normal. And the normal urea nitrogen level in our body is 9~20mg/dL, so urea nitrogen level 50 is also much higher than normal.

The levels of creatinine and urea nitrogen can be affected by many factors, and in most cases, they are not persistent. But when they are caused by kidney damage, they will be continuously high, because their high levels are due to the wastes’ accumulation in patient’s blood. And if patient has high level of urea nitrogen and creatinine at the same time, it is more likely to be caused by patient’s kidney damage. While that will be a dangerous sign at this point.

What does creatinine level 2.3 and urea nitrogen level 50 mean?

Our kidneys have strong metabolic ability, and one healthy kidney will be able to keep our body health. Besides, our kidneys have strong compensation, so there will not be high levels of urea or creatinine caused by kidney damage unless more than half kidney function is damaged.

What’s more, creatinine or urea nitrogen’s level will not have obvious rise until more than two thirds of kidney function is damaged. Thereby, when patient has creatinine level 2.3 and urea nitrogen level 50, that means patient may be in stage 4 kidney disease, which is very severe.
