If you would like to try alternatives and get permanent treatment of the disease, systemic Chinese medicine will be a good choice for you. After a short period of treatment, edema will disappear completely, and proteinuria will turn negative.

What Am I Supposed to Do With FSGS

What Am I Supposed to Do With FSGSFSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulonephritis), is one of the most common cause of primary glomerular diseases in adults. It is easy to cause proteinuria or Nephrotic Syndrome. What am I supposed to do with FSGS? If you have the similar questions, you can find some suggestions.

Signs and symptoms of FSGS

The most common clinical presenting feature of FSGS (>70% of patients) is Nephrotic Syndrome, characterized by general edema, massive proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperlipidemia.

In the collapsing form of FSGS, the disease is marked by severe hypertension, more massive proteinuria, a very poor response to corticosteroids, and much faster rate of progression to ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease).

Management of FSGS

● Control hypertension

● Reduce lipid levels

● Reduce daily slat and protein intake

● Nephrotic Syndrome

Drugs for FSGS

For general FSGS patients, medicines are prescribed by the doctor to control some symptoms. In that case, hypertensive drugs for controlling high blood pressure and proteinuria and diuretics to reduce edema are recommended.

Then, steroids like prednisone, may be first step to treat Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis. Some have used a combination of prednisone and a cytotoxic agent such as cyclophosphamide as initial therapy to reduce the dose and duration of corticosteroids.

In patients who are refractory to 2-3 months of prednisone therapy, the recommendation is to reduce the steroid dose and to add cyclophosphamide (2.5 mg/kg [150-200 mg/d]).

Alternative medicines

Since long-term steroid therapy may lead to serious toxicity, patient counseling and close monitoring for adverse effects are essential before embarking on such a protracted regimen.

Now, FSGS patients can be treated with natural medicines, namely, traditional Chinese herbs. Except for these natural herbs, you can also take some therapies innovated from traditional Chinese herbs, such as Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Medicated Bath, and Acupuncture.
