The Connection of Okra in Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy
Diabetic Nephropathy, also called Diabetic Kidney Disease is a kind of kidney disease caused by long term (about 10 years) of diabetes. The connection of okra in treatment for Diabetic Nephropathy is reported to be effective. And that is the truth, according to my clinical practice. But it is far from enough to deal with this condition.
The diet guidance for Diabetic Nephropathy patients should include two aspects:
-Controlling blood glucose level
-Reduce burden on kidneys
Therefore, Diabetic Nephropathy patients are suggested to take foods low in sodium, low protein and reduced potassium and phosphorous. What’s more, control sugar intake and carbohydrates amount in diet is very necessary for them. Okra, cabbage, cauliflower, bitter gourd, lettuce and red bell peppers are all good choices.
However, a diet is far from enough to deal with this condition. It is only helpful for reducing wastes produced by foods, but cannot treat kidney disease.
