Why Diabetic Nephropathy Patients Would Appear Proteinuria?

Why Diabetic Nephropathy Patients Would Appear Proteinuria? Why diabetic nephropathy patients would appear proteinuria? Diabetic nephropathy is a common chronic complication of diabetes, which has the main clinical symptom of protein in urine related to disturbance of carbohydrate metabolism. If patients do not pay attention to it, it would lead to kidney failure in the future. Many diabetic nephropathy patients would ask the question that why I have protein in urine? Now let us tell you some information about it.

Glomerular hemodynamic abnormalities

Glomerular hemodynamic abnormalities is be considered the initiating agent of proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy. Disturbance of carbohydrate metabolism cause a series of vasoactive factors enhances the reactivity which could lead to glomerular afferent artery dilatation and glomerular capillary blood flow increased. Those will increase the glomerular filtration and plasma albumin from capillary filtration.

The change of glomerular filtration membrane function

The glomerular filtration membrane is divided into 3 layers from the inner to the outer: endothelial cells, basement membrane and foot cells. The active material exchange and mutual regulation make those three structures mutual support. The change of glomerular filtration membrane function is the main cause of proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy.

Renal tubular acidosis

In normal situation, most protein could be absorbed again by renal tube and only a little protein in urine. However, renal tubular epithelial cell proliferation was inhibited under high glucose condition and renal it would lead to renal tubular epithelial cells to differentiate into fibroblast and lost their normal function, then the protein re absorption be reduced.

Abnormal VEGF( vascular endothelial growth factor)

Vascular endothelial growth factor is a specific mitogen for vascular endothelial cells which has the function of adjust angiogenesis and permeability of endothelial cells. But VEGF would be increased in diabetes patients which would lead to protein in urine.

Those are the reasons why diabetic nephropathy patients would appear protein in urine. If you have other questions about kidney disease, please contact our online doctors or leave your contact way below.
