What Are Symptoms of Diabetic Kidney Disease

What Are Symptoms of Diabetic Kidney DiseaseDiabetic Kidney Disease is also called Diabetic Nephropathy. Compared with other types of chronic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease may cause more symptoms and complications. Well, what are common Diabetic Nephropathy symptoms?

1. Albumin or protein in urine

When kidney filtering system is attacked by high blood sugar, albumin or protein is more likely to leak from the body into the urine. In the early stage, diabetic kidney disease patients usually don’t have obvious symptom. However, with the progression of kidney disease, foamy urine becomes more and more obvious.

2. High blood pressure

High blood pressure often occurs along with the onset of Diabetic Nephropathy, and it is one important factor to affect the prognosis of diabetic kidney disease patients. This is because hypertension can worsen patients’ proteinuria and cause further kidney damage easily.

3. Edema or fluid retention

When kidneys are unable to filter blood normally, extra fluid is more likely to retain in the body, resulting in edema or swelling. Besides, protein leakage is another cause of fluid retention. In this case, patients should limit their fluid intake and take correct medications such as diuretics and ACEI with doctors’ guidance.

4. Sweet taste in the mouth

If blood sugar isn’t controlled very well, extra sugar may build up in various parts of the body via blood circulation. In this case, sweet taste in the mouth happens easily.

5. Renal anemia and fatigue

Fatigue is one sign of renal anemia, which is usually resulted from low kidney function. This is because diseased kidneys are unable to produce enough EPO, which is responsible for stimulating the body to produce red blood cells. Then, renal anemia occurs.

These are only several symptoms caused by diabetic kidney disease. If you have one or more of these symptoms, you can consult the doctor online to determine how to manage them effectively.
